Quoted intervals suggested are 1 hr, 1 day 2 days, 1 week, 1 month etc. The problem with this approach is that the appropriate interval will depend on the material, or even the individual items being learned. A very easy item to remember may require infrequent repetitions. A difficult item may require very frequent repetitions. In a given list of items, some of which will be easy and some hard, repetitions of the whole list will be inefficient.
