The XVIIIth century is considered the most tragic period in Polish history. During this century the three partitions of Poland in 1772, 1793 and 1795 took place. The country was divided among the three major European powers at that time: Russia, Austria and Prussia. The collection will provide you with information about partitions of Poland, people who played essential role in these historic developments, and events, which led or were the result of them. The consequences of that dismemberment, unique in history, affected not only Poland, but also Europe where the balance of power was deeply disturbed.
